Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Optional garnishes: sesame seeds, chopped green onions
Instructions
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, olive oil, and sesame oil.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
- Heat a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated chicken thighs to the hot skillet, reserving the marinade.
- Sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned.
- Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce is glossy and has thickened further.
- Serve the soy garlic chicken thighs hot, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Adjust honey to your sweetness preference.
- Ensure the sauce thickens properly by simmering and using the cornstarch slurry.
