Description

A simple and flavorful one-pan recipe for tender, juicy chicken thighs coated in a glossy, savory, and slightly sweet soy garlic sauce. Ready in just 30 minutes, this dish is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Optional garnishes: sesame seeds, chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, olive oil, and sesame oil.
  3. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
  5. Heat a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Add the marinated chicken thighs to the hot skillet, reserving the marinade.
  7. Sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned.
  8. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet.
  9. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
  10. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce is glossy and has thickened further.
  11. Serve the soy garlic chicken thighs hot, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Adjust honey to your sweetness preference.
  • Ensure the sauce thickens properly by simmering and using the cornstarch slurry.
