Description

Authentic Mexican-style street tacos made with tender, flavorful pulled pork carnitas, served on warm corn tortillas and topped with fresh garnishes. Perfect for dinner or parties.


Ingredients

  • 3 lbs pork shoulder, boneless
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 large onion, coarsely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 16 small corn tortillas
  • 1 cup chopped white onion, for garnish
  • 1 cup chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • 2 limes, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Season the pork shoulder with salt, pepper, cumin, and oregano on all sides.
  2. Place the pork, onion, garlic, orange juice, and chicken broth in a large Dutch oven or slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on low heat for 2.5 hours, or until the pork is very tender and easily shreds.
  4. Remove the pork and shred with two forks. Return to the pot and toss with some of the cooking juices.
  5. Heat the corn tortillas on a skillet until warm and pliable.
  6. Assemble tacos by topping each tortilla with pulled pork, chopped onion, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime.
