Description
Cracker Candy, also known as Christmas Crack, is an easy and addictive dessert that combines saltine crackers with a buttery toffee layer and smooth chocolate topping.

- 1 package (approx. 80-90 individual) saltine crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, or a mix)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Flaky sea salt (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a large baking sheet (10×15 inches) with aluminum foil, ensuring it extends up the sides, then optionally cover with parchment paper.
- Carefully arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, minimizing gaps.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup unsalted butter and 1 cup packed light brown sugar. Place over medium heat and stir continuously until the mixture comes to a rolling boil (about 5-7 minutes).
- Once boiling, reduce heat slightly and continue to boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Quickly pour the hot caramel mixture evenly over the crackers. Spread it to the edges with a spatula.
- Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes until the caramel bubbles and the cracker edges turn golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle 2 cups of chocolate chips over the caramel. Let sit for 3-5 minutes to melt.
- Once melted, spread the chocolate evenly over the surface. Optionally sprinkle flaky sea salt on top.
- Let the Cracker Candy cool for about 30 minutes at room temperature, then refrigerate for 1-2 hours to set.
- After setting, lift the slab off the baking sheet, break into pieces, and store in an airtight container.

- Store at room temperature for up to a week.
- Refrigerate for up to two weeks for a crisper snap.
