Description
A rich and creamy white sauce featuring earthy morel mushrooms, perfect for elevating steak or chicken.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh morel mushrooms, cleaned
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 shallot, finely minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Gently clean the morel mushrooms with a damp cloth or soft brush.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced shallot and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the cleaned morel mushrooms to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and begin to brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream.
- Simmer gently for 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Stir in the fresh chopped parsley.
- Serve the creamy morel mushroom sauce immediately over steak, chicken, or pasta.
Notes
- Ensure morels are thoroughly cleaned as they can hold dirt.
- Do not overcook the morel mushrooms to preserve their delicate texture.
- Adjust the amount of cream and Parmesan cheese to achieve your preferred sauce thickness and richness.
