Description

A rich and creamy white sauce featuring earthy morel mushrooms, perfect for elevating steak or chicken.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh morel mushrooms, cleaned
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 shallot, finely minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Gently clean the morel mushrooms with a damp cloth or soft brush.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced shallot and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the cleaned morel mushrooms to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and begin to brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Pour in the white wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream.
  8. Simmer gently for 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
  9. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  10. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  11. Stir in the fresh chopped parsley.
  12. Serve the creamy morel mushroom sauce immediately over steak, chicken, or pasta.

Notes

  • Ensure morels are thoroughly cleaned as they can hold dirt.
  • Do not overcook the morel mushrooms to preserve their delicate texture.
  • Adjust the amount of cream and Parmesan cheese to achieve your preferred sauce thickness and richness.
