Description

Melt-in-Your-Mouth Eggnog Sugar Cookies for Holiday Bliss

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1.5 cups sugar (adjust for desired sweetness)
  • 1 large egg (acts as a binding agent)
  • 0.5 cup eggnog (substitute milk or cream if necessary)
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg (preferably freshly grated)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (use pure extract for best flavor)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (can swap for gluten-free blend)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (do not use baking soda)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt (balances sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3-5 minutes).
  3. Beat in the egg, eggnog, vanilla extract, and nutmeg until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Scoop tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, keeping an eye for lightly golden edges.
  7. Cool on the sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  8. Optional: Dust with powdered sugar after cooling.
