Description

Soft, buttery Italian Christmas cookies drizzled with a sweet glaze and topped with colorful sprinkles, perfect for festive celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 34 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract (for glaze)
  • Colorful sprinkles for decorating

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  6. For the glaze, combine powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract until smooth. Dip cooled cookies in glaze and top with sprinkles.
