Description

Enjoy the delightful Italian Cheese Log, a budget-friendly and crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (Use spreadable cream cheese if needed.)
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream (Can substitute with yogurt or mayonnaise.)
  • 1 tsp Thyme
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Basil
  • 1 tsp Rosemary
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder (No substitution needed.)
  • 1 tsp Salt (Adjust according to serving crackers.)
  • 1 cup Cheese (Cheddar, Gruyere, etc.) (Avoid using mozzarella.)
  • 1 cup Roasted Peppers (Drain and finely chop before adding.)
  • 4 oz Salami (Omit for a vegetarian twist.)
  • 1/2 cup Green Olives (Use your favorite type.)
  • 2 Tbsp Green Onion (Mince finely.)
  • 1 cup Sun Dried Tomato Strips in Oil (Use the oil to enhance serving.)
  • 1 Tbsp Parsley/Chives (Optional garnishes.)
  • 1 pkg Crackers (Jatz or similar) (Select your favorite type.)

Instructions

  1. Spray a loaf pan with oil and line it with cling wrap, ensuring there’s enough overhang.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, herbs, garlic powder, cheddar cheese, roasted peppers, salami, green olives, and green onion. Taste and adjust salt.
  3. Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan, pressing firmly to eliminate air pockets. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  4. When ready, turn the log onto a platter and carefully remove the cling wrap. Top with sun-dried tomatoes and drizzle with oil, garnishing with parsley.
  5. Serve closer to room temperature with your favorite crackers.
