Description

This Creamy Spicy Keto Shrimp and Sausage Skillet combines simple ingredients into a satisfying dish perfect for a low-carb lifestyle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Shrimp
  • 12 oz Smoked Sausage
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 medium Red Bell Pepper
  • 1 medium Green Bell Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Cajun Seasoning
  • 4 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. This should take about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the shrimp and smoked sausage to the skillet. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning and sauté until the shrimp turns pink and the sausage is browned, approximately 4-5 minutes. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Lower the heat to medium, then add butter to the skillet. Sauté the chopped onion, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant; be careful not to burn it!
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, the remaining Cajun seasoning, heavy whipping cream, and cayenne pepper. Simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  6. Return the shrimp and sausage to the skillet, and mix well to coat them in the creamy sauce.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and adjust the spice with cayenne if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Substitute chicken or firm tofu for shrimp if desired.
  • Use turkey or chicken sausage as an alternative.
  • Coconut oil can replace olive oil for a different flavor.
  • Ghee can be used instead of butter for a dairy-free option.
  • Adjust the level of cayenne pepper based on your spice preference.
