Description

Chocolate Blossom Cookies are a delightful twist on a classic holiday treat, featuring soft, fudgy cookies with a melted Hershey’s Kiss at the center.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour (can be replaced with a gluten-free flour blend)
  • 3/4 cup Natural Cocoa Powder (Dutch-processed cocoa may yield a deeper taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder (ensure it’s fresh for best results)
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda (crucial for the perfect texture)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt (balances sweetness)
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (softened, can use coconut oil or vegan butter)
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar (provides moisture and chewiness)
  • 1 Large Egg (“flax egg” is a vegan option)
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract (opt for pure or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar (for rolling the dough balls)
  • Sprinkles/Powdered Sugar (optional for decoration)
  • 24 pieces Hershey’s Kisses (feel free to experiment with seasonal varieties)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir well and set aside.
  3. Beat the softened butter until creamy, then add brown sugar and beat until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, beating on low until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Scoop about 1.5 tablespoons of dough and roll into balls. Roll each ball in granulated sugar, sprinkles, or powdered sugar.
  7. Place the dough balls on the lined baking sheet about an inch apart. Bake for 7-8 minutes until puffed up.
  8. Immediately press an unwrapped Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each warm cookie.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • These cookies can be made gluten-free by using a suitable flour blend.
