Ingredients
- Chai Tea Mixture: 1 cup plant-based milk, 2 black tea bags, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1 tbsp chai spice blend
- Dough: 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup bread flour, 1/2 cup cane sugar, 2 1/4 tsp rapid rise yeast, 1 cup warm chai tea mixture, 1/2 cup warm water, 1/2 cup vegan butter, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp sea salt
- Filling: 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup softened vegan butter, 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 cup vegan butter, 2 tbsp chai tea mixture
Instructions
- Prepare the Chai: Boil plant-based milk, steep tea bags and chai spices for 15 minutes, then cool.
- Activate the Yeast: Combine warm water and sugar, sprinkle yeast, let it activate for 5 minutes.
- Mix the Dough: Add cooled chai tea, melted vegan butter, and vanilla to activated yeast. Gradually mix in flours and salt until dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Knead for 5-10 minutes until elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Prepare the Filling: Mix softened vegan butter with brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Shape the Rolls: Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread filling, roll tightly, and cut into 1.5-inch pieces.
- Second Rise: Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Make the Glaze: Mix powdered sugar, vegan butter, and chai tea mixture until smooth.
- Glaze the Rolls: Drizzle glaze over warm rolls.
