Description

Tender, flavorful pork carnitas slow-cooked with Mexican spices. Perfect for tacos, burritos, or bowls. Effortless to make in your slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lbs pork shoulder, boneless
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut into large chunks.
  2. Combine cumin, oregano, chili powder, salt, and pepper; rub all over pork pieces.
  3. Place pork in the slow cooker. Add diced onion, minced garlic, orange juice, lime juice, and chicken broth.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until pork is very tender and shreds easily with a fork.
  5. Shred pork with two forks. Optional: Broil shredded pork in the oven for 3-5 minutes for crispy edges.
  6. Serve warm in tacos, burritos, rice bowls, or with your favorite toppings.
