Description

This Sausage Baked Brie Appetizer combines savory sausage, gooey Brie, and flaky puff pastry, making it a must-try dish for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz Brie Cheese
  • 0.5 lb Sausage
  • 0.5 cup Onion
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 tsp Fresh Thyme
  • 2 tbsp Fig Jam
  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry
  • 1 large Egg
  • Crackers
  • Baguette Slices
  • Apple Wedges

Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet over medium heat, crumble and brown the sausage until crispy and golden, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Stir in the finely diced onion and minced garlic until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a square large enough to encase your Brie.
  5. Place your Brie in the center of the pastry square. Optionally, spread fig jam on the Brie, then layer the cooled sausage mixture over the top.
  6. Fold the pastry around the Brie, securing it well. Brush the edges with beaten egg wash. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow the baked Brie to cool for about 5 minutes before serving with crackers, baguette slices, or apple wedges.

Notes

  • Choose a high-quality Brie for the best melting texture.
  • Use Italian or breakfast sausage, casings removed.
  • Fresh thyme is preferred for optimum flavor.
  • Fig jam is optional for a sweet contrast.
