Description
This Sausage Baked Brie Appetizer combines savory sausage, gooey Brie, and flaky puff pastry, making it a must-try dish for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz Brie Cheese
- 0.5 lb Sausage
- 0.5 cup Onion
- 1 clove Garlic
- 1 tsp Fresh Thyme
- 2 tbsp Fig Jam
- 1 sheet Puff Pastry
- 1 large Egg
- Crackers
- Baguette Slices
- Apple Wedges
Instructions
- In a medium skillet over medium heat, crumble and brown the sausage until crispy and golden, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the finely diced onion and minced garlic until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a square large enough to encase your Brie.
- Place your Brie in the center of the pastry square. Optionally, spread fig jam on the Brie, then layer the cooled sausage mixture over the top.
- Fold the pastry around the Brie, securing it well. Brush the edges with beaten egg wash. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the baked Brie to cool for about 5 minutes before serving with crackers, baguette slices, or apple wedges.
Notes
- Choose a high-quality Brie for the best melting texture.
- Use Italian or breakfast sausage, casings removed.
- Fresh thyme is preferred for optimum flavor.
- Fig jam is optional for a sweet contrast.
