Description
Delight in Korean Milk Cream Donuts that are crispy on the outside and filled with cloud-like whipped cream, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour (no substitutions recommended for optimal texture)
- 1 cup Sugar (feel free to adjust to your taste)
- 2 teaspoons Instant Yeast (make sure it’s fresh for the best results; active dry yeast can be used with proofing)
- 1 cup Lukewarm Milk (dairy-free options like almond or oat milk also work)
- 1 large Egg (unsweetened applesauce can be your go-to for a vegan option)
- 3 tablespoons Butter (try coconut oil for a completely dairy-free treat)
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream (using fresh homemade or store-bought is best)
- 2 tablespoons Sugar (for cream) (adjust according to your preference)
- 1/4 cup Condensed Milk (optional but highly recommended for richness)
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar (optional but perfect for that café-style presentation)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the lukewarm milk, egg, and melted butter until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk the all-purpose flour, sugar, and instant yeast together until thoroughly blended.
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mix. Stir together until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Once risen, roll the dough out on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness.
- Use a round cutter to shape the donuts and carefully place them on a parchment-lined tray.
- In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil to 170-180°C (340-360°F).
- Fry the donuts in small batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown.
- In a separate bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Once cooled, cut the donuts in half, creating a lovely pocket for the decadent filling.
- Pipe the whipped cream into the donuts and drizzle in some condensed milk before dusting with powdered sugar.
