Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 avocado, sliced
- ⅓ cup crumbled feta cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or cilantro, for garnish
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp hot sauce (such as sriracha or Frank’s)
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes
- ½ tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp chili powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss cubed sweet potatoes with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread evenly on a baking sheet and roast for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until tender and caramelized.
- While the sweet potatoes roast, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tbsp olive oil, then the ground beef. Break apart with a spoon and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder. Mix well and cook for another 2–3 minutes until flavorful and slightly caramelized. Remove the ground beef from heat.
- In a small saucepan, warm honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and vinegar over low heat for about 2 minutes. Do not boil; just heat until it combines into a smooth glaze.
- Divide roasted sweet potatoes, seasoned ground beef, and avocado slices between serving bowls. Sprinkle feta on top.
- Finish each ground beef hot honey bowl with a generous drizzle of hot honey and a sprinkle of fresh herbs. Serve warm.
Notes
- Adjust the spice level in your ground beef hot honey by adding or reducing chili flakes and hot sauce.
- For a heartier ground beef hot honey bowl, add grains like rice, quinoa, or farro.
- Store cooked ground beef hot honey components separately in airtight containers for up to 4 days.
- Caramelize the sweet potatoes well for enhanced flavor and texture in your ground beef hot honey bowl.
- Do not overheat the hot honey; it should be warm, not bubbling.
- Use ripe avocados for the best creamy texture.
- Drizzle the hot honey just before serving to preserve its glossy finish.
