- 8 ounces Almond Paste (Sweet and dense filling)
- 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar (Adjust according to taste)
- 1 large Egg (Beaten, reserve half for egg wash)
- 1/4 cup Sliced Almonds (For crunch and visual appeal)
- 1 tablespoon Powdered Sugar (For dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unfold the puff pastry and let it rest briefly for easy handling.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the almond paste, softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg. Mix until the mixture becomes creamy and smooth.
- Spread the filling in the center third of the pastry. Cut diagonal slits on the outer thirds evenly and alternate folding the strips over the filling to create a lovely braided effect.
- Brush the top with the remaining egg to achieve a golden finish. Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top, and bake for 20-25 minutes until it’s puffed and golden brown.
- Allow the pastry to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before slicing and serving warm or at room temperature.
