Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter (Softened)
- 1/2 cup Margarine (Softened)
- 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 large Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt (Omit if using salted butter)
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder (Ensure it’s fresh)
- 1 tablespoon Food Coloring (Optional, for festive color)
- 1/4 cup Colored Sugar or Sprinkles (For decorating)
Instructions
- Prepare Dough: In an electric mixer, cream together the softened butter and margarine until light and fluffy. Gradually add the sugar, mixing well; then incorporate the eggs one at a time until fully blended.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder until evenly mixed to create a smooth blend for your cookies.
- Mix Together: Gradually add the dry mixture into the butter mixture, being careful not to overwork the dough; it should be soft but hold its shape well.
- Chill Dough: Cover the dough and refrigerate it for about 15 minutes.
- Preheat Oven: While the dough chills, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Also, chill your baking pan in the fridge.
- Shape Cookies: Load the chilled dough into your cookie press and form cookies onto an ungreased baking sheet.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle your cookies with colored sugar or sprinkles before baking.
- Bake: Place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes.
- Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
