Description

Delicious buttery Christmas Spritz cookies that melt in your mouth, perfect for festive gatherings. These delightful German treats are sure to impress family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (Softened)
  • 1/2 cup Margarine (Softened)
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt (Omit if using salted butter)
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder (Ensure it’s fresh)
  • 1 tablespoon Food Coloring (Optional, for festive color)
  • 1/4 cup Colored Sugar or Sprinkles (For decorating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: In an electric mixer, cream together the softened butter and margarine until light and fluffy. Gradually add the sugar, mixing well; then incorporate the eggs one at a time until fully blended.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder until evenly mixed to create a smooth blend for your cookies.
  3. Mix Together: Gradually add the dry mixture into the butter mixture, being careful not to overwork the dough; it should be soft but hold its shape well.
  4. Chill Dough: Cover the dough and refrigerate it for about 15 minutes.
  5. Preheat Oven: While the dough chills, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Also, chill your baking pan in the fridge.
  6. Shape Cookies: Load the chilled dough into your cookie press and form cookies onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Add Toppings: Sprinkle your cookies with colored sugar or sprinkles before baking.
  8. Bake: Place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes.
  9. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
