  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Zest (Intensifies lemon flavor.)
  • 1 teaspoon Freshly Cracked Black Pepper (Adjust to taste.)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder (For savory depth.)
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder (For mild sweetness.)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (Sea salt or kosher salt preferred.)
  • 2 tablespoons Nutritional Yeast (For a cheesy undertone.)

Instructions

  1. Press the Tofu: Remove the tofu from its packaging, drain off the liquid, and press it for 30-60 minutes.
  2. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Cut the Tofu: Slice the pressed tofu into ¾-inch to 1-inch cubes.
  4. Make Lemon Pepper Coating: Whisk together olive oil, fresh lemon juice, and lemon zest in one bowl, and mix black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and cornstarch in another.
  5. Coat the Tofu: Toss tofu pieces in the lemon mixture, then sprinkle the dry seasoning over the tofu and toss again until coated.
  6. Arrange Tofu on Baking Sheet: Lay the coated tofu cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake Tofu: Bake for 25-35 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispness.
  8. (Optional) Broil: Broil for 1-3 minutes for extra crunch, watching closely.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove the tofu from the oven, optionally sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
