Description

Indulge in warm, crispy, and sweet apple fritters made easily in your air fryer. This recipe delivers all the nostalgic comfort with a significantly lighter touch than traditional deep-frying.


Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 cup (120g) All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (50g) Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Cooking spray or a small amount of oil for the air fryer basket

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and finely dice 2 medium apples into approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch (0.6 to 1.2 cm) cubes. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  3. In a separate large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 large eggs, 1/2 cup milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until well combined and smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, gently mix until just combined.
  5. Add the finely diced apples to the batter. Gently fold them in until they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for at least 5-7 minutes.
  7. While the air fryer preheats, lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush with a little oil.
  8. Using two spoons, carefully drop 2-3 tablespoon-sized spoonfuls of batter into the prepared air fryer basket. Air fry for 8-10 minutes.
  9. At the 8-minute mark, open the basket and use tongs to carefully flip each fritter. Continue to air fry for another 5-7 minutes.
  10. Once a batch is done, carefully remove the hot fritters and transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly.
  11. Once the fritters have cooled for just a few minutes, generously dust them with powdered sugar.
